Imagining a New Syria

Syria has escaped 54 years of Assad family dictatorship. The new government faces challenges, both internal and external. What are its options to rebuild a country devastated by 14 years of civil war?  Can it overcome the trauma produced by a century of colonialism, sectarianism, repression, and violence?
