Shibori: Indigo Fabric Dyeing Class

Shibori is the Japanese art of binding and folding fabric in different patterns before dyeing. Using natural indigo powder, you will learn how to use different binding techniques to create unique patterns on a set of cotton tea towels. You will learn about sustainable dye practices and about the different cultures that do the Indigo process.
Participants should wear clothing that can get dye on it.
Each person will make 3 tea towels to take home.
Instructor Bio: Kit Hays holds a Masters of Arts and Teaching with an emphasis in Art. She received her BFA at the University of Colorado Boulder in Printmaking. She has taught art at a middle school level over 7 years. She left two years ago to have a baby and start her own jewelry business. She loves learning new art processes and mediums. Teaching has always been one of her passions and she enjoys teaching others how to tune into their own creative sides.
