SUMMARY:Women of the World: A Multicultural Production
DESCRIPTION:The “Women of the World” production weaves together some of the most beautiful cultures from around the globe in a 90 minute production.\n\n\nIn honor of International Women’s Day on Tuesday\, March 8th\, we are hosting a multi-cultural performance to bring our community together and appreciate the vast cultural landscape in our city. \nThe “Women of the World” production weaves together some of the most beautiful cultures from around the globe in a show-stopping and electrifying performance. \nThis event is a multicultural experience for all people to enjoy. The plush venue space at Epiphany in Downtown Colorado Springs accommodates guests in a beautiful atmosphere and gives us the opportunity to expand our communities cultural awareness to Mexican\, East Indian\, Pacific Islander\, Balinese\, Hawaiian\, Tahitian and many other vibrant cultures. \nCultural Performances: \nOdissi East Indian Classical Dance is one of eight styles of Classical Dance from India. Odissi is a dance that tells the stories of the Gods and Goddesses of Hinduism. \nBallet Folklorico De Barajas: Folkloric dance expresses the life and spirit of a people through its movement and music. It is both historical and current\, preserving tradition yet shifting with the current times. \nHula Auana is the storytelling dance of the Hawaiian Islands. As with all of Hawaiian culture\, when you are fortunate enough to learn more about it\, much deeper\, more powerful and empowering truths may be revealed. Hula can be paired with chants or contemporary music\, slow and sentimental in tempo or fast and energetic. But no matter its style\, it is all part of a cultural practice of sharing a trove of stories that connect dancers and audiences to the foundation of Hawaiian ancestral knowledge. Hula animates history\, genealogy\, prophecy\, and the tales of those who came before. \nSanggar Manik Galih: Balinese dance is an ancient dance tradition that is part of the religious and artistic expression among the Balinese people of Bali island\, Indonesia. Balinese dance is dynamic\, angular and intensely expressive. Balinese dancers express the stories of dance-drama through the bodily gestures including gestures of fingers\, hands\, head and eyes. \nMillennium All-Stars is a cheer and dance team located in Colorado Springs. We’ll be bringing together a fusion of hip hop dance and cheer to the stage for the Women of the World event. \nManava O Polynesia will be performing dances from Tahiti where the dancers create their own artistic expression of what the drummers are playing. The dancers and drummers become one to tell a story. \nAutumn Corin is a 19 year old\, female R&B recording artist currently signed under rapper DDG’s independent record label\, “Zooted Music”. While managing her growing social presence of over 370K fans across all platforms\, Corin still finds time to pursue a BPS in Music Business from Berklee College of Music all while splitting time between Los Angeles and Charlotte\, NC for her music career. A rising star in the game\, Corin has created her own distinctive sound by intertwining the genres of early 90’s and 2000’s R&B with today’s fresh hip-hop\, pop\, and latin styles\, proving to be a force to be reckoned with. Corin is set to release her highly anticipated initial EP within the next year. \nZHÉ will captivate you with their essence and bring emotions to the surface with their Soulful and Dynamic Voice. She is grateful for the opportunity to merge music and connection on a Soul community level!! Enjoy !! Thank you for listening !! \nDJ CHloeBee on the ones and twos. \nSpecial thank you to Project Glimmer for sponsoring gift bags for all of our guests! \n\n\nCharity Partner: \nWe have partnered with the Pikes Peak Children’s Museum to develop a Women of the World display. This exhibit will showcase the cultural performances captured from the event\, with photos accompanied and cultural artifacts.
