SUMMARY:Skylar Sypher: IMPULSE
DESCRIPTION:Cottonwood Center for the Arts is pleased to announce a solo exhibition for the month of January featuring works by Skylar Sypher: Impulse \nSypher is a Ukrainian born Deaf artist who maintains a studio in downtown Colorado Springs\, CO. She works in soft pastels\, pencil\, and oil paint. Her stylized approach to representationalism adds complex layers of emotion\, and an element of story telling to every subject she addresses. \nFrom the Artist: \nImpulse is the heartbeat of my creativity\, a visceral reaction to inspiration that drives me to draw and paint. My work is born from a deep emotional connection to self-discovery and expression. Through colorful abstract forms\, l translate my feelings\, energy\, and the boundless expanse of the universe into visual narratives. \nI am captivated by the beauty of human connection\, reflected in my exploration of hand gestures and American Sign Language\, which carry an inherent power and grace. These pieces resonate with the rhythm of communication and expression. \nInspired by the stories and masterpieces of renowned artists\, I find joy in re-imagining their influence into something uniquely my own-a tribute to their legacy and a testament to the impulse that fuels my artistic journey. \n  \n  \nCome experience this exhibit and enjoy two floors of open studios + galleries this First Friday from 5-8 pm\, and all month during normal business hours.

SUMMARY:Getting Old Changes Us
DESCRIPTION:The first part of life is all about acquiring stuff and doing things.  The end of life is about “letting go” and learning how to just “be.”  It’s a process of discovering who we are while letting go of doing things.  We will set the foundational basics for understanding and learning how to “live with dying.” \n  \nKent Mathews: MSW from Arizona State University and a BSED from Concordia Teachers College. \n  \nPILLAR Member-FREE Not-Yet-Member $25.00 \n  \nClick here to register: \nhttps://pillarinstitute.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/pillarinstitute/event.jsp?event=6507 \n  \nAbout PILLAR \nPILLAR Institute for Lifelong Learning is a dynamic hub for curious minds seeking intellectual growth and meaningful community connections.
