SUMMARY:Expressions - A Handbell Concert presented by the Pikes Peak Ringers
DESCRIPTION:Come experience a unique musical event that will delight your ears and eyes. The Pikes Peak Ringers present Expressions\, a handbell concert that explores the expression of a variety of human emotions. Songs include traditional tunes\, soaring pieces reminiscent of movie soundtracks\, heartbreaking ballads\, and even a Christmas teaser. Not only will the music touch your soul\, but the visuals of watching the only instrument played by 13 people will be a visual experience as well.  \nSince 1991\, the Pikes Peak Ringers have continually expanded the boundaries of traditional handbell music\, bringing their extensive repertoire\, innovative techniques and distinctive visual approach to numerous projects and venues around the country.  Recognized worldwide as one of the premier handbell ensembles in North America\, the Pikes Peak Ringers released their sixth studio CD\, Classics\, in the spring of 2011 that includes “Dona Nobis Pacem\,” PPR’s track with world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma that was released in December 2009 as part of Mr. Ma’s Grammy award-winning CD\, “Songs of Joy and Peace.”  With an annual performance schedule that includes several local and out-of-state concerts\, they have also been featured at national handbell events and on several promotional recordings\, in addition to their own studio CDs\, instructional DVD\, and a live concert DVD of the world’s first-ever classical concerto for handbells and orchestra.  Today\, as a non-profit organization\, the Pikes Peak Ringers continue to provide an outlet for advanced ringers in the greater Colorado Springs community\, to teach others about handbells through workshops and other venues\, and to create vivid performances that showcase the instrument of English handbells with the highest-quality presentation and musicianship.

SUMMARY:Ladies Hike - Jess Weaver Trail (40's & 50's)
DESCRIPTION:Let’s get together and meet some new female friends. This group social hike is for women between the ages of 40’s and 50’s.\n\n\n\nAre you looking for an outlet to meet new people?\nHave you fallen into the habit of staying home because your friends are too busy\, focused on other things?\nAre you wondering how to make friends as an adult – outside of the workplace?\n\n \nIf so\, come along with us on our monthly Ladies hikes! Connect with ladies at the same stage of life as you AND start building a community of local friends. \nThese hikes are meant for meeting new people and helping you find friends to hang out with on a regular basis. \nWe always have a great time looking at the views\, taking photos\, chatting\, and laughing together. Every hike brings a mix of new people\, which makes it a really welcoming group to be in. \nThis group social hike is for women between the ages of 40’s and 50’s. \n\n\nAbout this month’s hike: \nWe’ll hike from the Jess Weaver Trailhead. NOTE: Most of us will be carpooling for this trail because there is not much parking. Please register for more details. \nPlease arrive to the trail by 9:40 am – hike starts promptly at 9:45 am. If you are carpooling\, you will need to arrive earlier to meet us. Plan for 2 hours on the trail total. More details to follow in the confirmation email. \n\n\nIt can be a bit scary to put yourself out there in a new group of people. \nYou might be thinking the following: \nWhat if there’s nothing to talk about? We stop often to do ice breaker topics along the hike to give us good conversation starters! We switch up talking buddies along the way\, too\, so you have a chance to chat with many different ladies. \nWhat if I’m a slow hiker? We take our time on these hikes to stop often to chat as a group\, and we never leave anyone behind. Each person varies at their level of hiking experience (from beginner to expert) and we always go at a pace that works for everyone. \n\n\nIt’s so much more fun to do activities when you have friends who want to do them with you. \nWhy not start building your circle of friends now who want to experience new things? \nHere’s what some of the hikers are saying: \n“What a great group of women to spend my morning with! So appreciative to Emma for organizing this group hike and to all the fantastic women who I met today. This is just the beginning!” – R \n“Thank you\, Emma for organizing this hike. I really enjoyed meeting some lovely likeminded ladies while getting outside on this gorgeous morning. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better.” – L \n\n\nWant to join us? Please register so I know to expect you. Registration capped at 10 ladies to keep the group manageable. \nIf you can’t attend this one but want an invite to the next\, please subscribe to this event page\, or subscribe to my newsletter here! I’ll do these monthly on different trails in the Vail Valley area.

Secure your tickets now for a night of musical excellence! \nAbout Ivalas: \nHailed by The Strad for playing with “tremendous heart and beauty\,” the Ivalas Quartet has been changing the face of classical music since its inception in 2017. Composed of violinists Reuben Kebede and Tiani Butts\, violist Marcus Stevenson and cellist Pedro Sanchez\, Ivalas seeks to enhance the classical music world by consistently spotlighting past and present BIPOC composers. \nRecently\, The Ivalas Quartet served as the Graduate Resident String Quartet at The Juilliard School\, where they studied with the Juilliard String Quartet. They were previously in residence at the University of Colorado-Boulder under the mentorship of the Takács Quartet. \nPerforming on concert series all throughout the United States\, the quartet has been presented by the Austin Chamber Music Center\, Newport Classical\, Schneider Concerts\, the Chautauqua Institution\, the Skaneateles Festival\, Friends of Chamber Music Denver\, and CU Presents\, where they collaborated with the Takács Quartet in 2020 and 2022. In May of 2023 and 2024\, they presented full programs at Carnegie Hall\, titled First Light and Fate and Yearning\, respectively. Recently\, the quartet has enjoyed performing on Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City\, and in collaboration with New Latin Wave\, the New Voices in Composition series. \nThe Ivalas Quartet won a Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant in 2023\, and also had the great honor of serving as the 2022-23 Ernst Stiefel String Quartet-in-Residence at Caramoor. The quartet has nurtured students from the early stages of their musical journey to the collegiate level\, with coaching experience including residencies at the University of Northern Iowa\, the University of Central Arkansas\, Madeline Island Chamber Music\, and the MacPhail Center for Music. In New York City\, they have coached student groups at The Juilliard School in both the preparatory and undergraduate divisions. SUMMARY:Ornaments of Delight presented by Parish House Baroque
DESCRIPTION:An intricate element of baroque music is the use of ornaments\, or special ways of decorating the music. Some ornaments are light and simple\, while others take on such richness and extravagance that they dazzle the audience with virtuosity and brilliance. While these ornaments are typically improvised\, many composers left behind instructions and elegant examples of the types of ornaments performers were expected to produce. Come revel in the timeless elegance of music by Telemann\, Pachelbel\, Corelli\, and Bach\, as we sit at the feet of the masters and learn their ways.
