SUMMARY:Beethoven 5
DESCRIPTION:It begins with four notes that changed music forever. Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony storms the stage in a defiant journey from darkness to triumphant light. Hannah Kendall’s Spark Catchers gives voice to working women in 1800’s London factories\, while Michael Daugherty paints the labor and fire of Detroit steel. Together\, these works blaze with resilience\, struggle\, and ultimate triumph. \nJoin us for Pre-Concert talks. Go behind the curtain and inside the score with these 30-minute pre-concert conversations one hour before the concert starts.

SUMMARY:JUST DESSERTS
DESCRIPTION:Cottonwood Center for the Arts is pleased to announce a juried exhibition for the month of December featuring works in response to an open call to the public: JUST DESSERTS \nHumans love sugar\, and therefore\, like everything else we love\, we idolize it\, fetishize it\, celebrate it\, and adoringly immortalize it in art. This call asked artists to call to our lust\, our fondness\, our sweet tooth for dessert. \nOf course we are reminded of Wayne Thiebaud’s iconic elegies to the pastries he was denied in his youth\, but don’t forget that frosting can be weaponized as a reminder of cultural disparity such as in the works of Yvette Mayorga. \nHowever dessert inspires you\, we asked artists to submit works that address this passionate affair. All mediums were considered. \nPhoto credit: Jessica Jones – Marie Antoinette \nCome experience this exhibit and enjoy two floors of open studios + galleries this First Friday from 5-8 pm\, and all month during normal business hours.

SUMMARY:Electric Safari
DESCRIPTION:Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is the only place in Colorado where you can enjoy a holiday-safari themed drone show\, and explore 50 acres of one-of-a-kind light sculptures\, twinkling light displays\, and larger-than-life illuminated inflatable animals while hand-feeding a giraffe herd on the side of a mountain! (Drone show and inflatables are weather dependent). For five consecutive years\, Electric Safari was ranked the 3rd Best Zoo Lights in the U.S. by USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards—until last year\, when it climbed to 2nd place. This year’s event will celebrate 35 years of holiday cheer\, and Santa Claus will be listening to wishes December 5 – 23. Come celebrate the holiday season with sparkling lights\, animals and fun for the whole family! For tickets and all the details\, visit cmzoo.org/electric. \n  \nAdvance timed tickets are required for members and non-members. Zoo member tickets are free\, but must be reserved in advance. Due to the popularity of Electric Safari\, some times and nights may sell out in advance. Everyone visiting the Zoo must have their own advance e-ticket\, including children age 2 and under. Discounted tickets (senior and military) will be validated at the front gate with the appropriate ID.
