SUMMARY:Boundaries: Songs From Outside the Box
DESCRIPTION:Expect the unexpected in this concert of unusual pairings. William Byrd meets Roxanna Panufnik. Finnish composer Jaakko Mäntyjärvi brings his highly inventive style to the familiar sounds of William Billings and Orlando Gibbons.  Soprano saxophone expands the colors of a cappella choir in works by Christian Foreshaw. And as if that weren’t enough\, CVAE will sing in Icelandic for the first time\, featuring a beautiful hymn setting by Anna Thorvaldsdottir. \nFor additional information about CVAE please visit www.cvae.org \nAbout Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble: \nColorado Vocal Arts Ensemble (CVAE) was founded in 1992. Under the direction of Deborah Jenkins Teske\, the Ensemble has garnered praise for “flawless sound” and “courageous programming\,” and been hailed as “a hidden gem in the middle of Colorado.” Now embarking on its 4th decade of steadfast commitment to artistic excellence and community involvement\, CVAE believes that art thrives where it is planted. \nCVAE’s annual concert series features traditional works and new music sourced from all over the world. Programming is carefully crafted and highly varied\, designed to create memorable experiences for audiences. While a cappella singing is at the heart of CVAEs identity\, collaborations have brought opportunities to explore a broader repertoire. Vital partnerships with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs\, Parish House Baroque\, and the Colorado College Summer Music Festival have allowed for performance of such diverse works as Brahms’ A German Requiem\, Menotti’s The Unicorn\, the Gorgon\, and the Manticore. and Stravinsky’s Les Noces.  Other important collaborators have included the Green Box Arts Festival\, Ormao Dance Company\, Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale\, The Denver Brass\, and The Colorado Ballet Society. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Ladies Hike - West Brush Creek Trail (20's - 80's)
DESCRIPTION:Let’s get together and meet some new female friends. This group social hike is for women between the ages of 20 and 90 years old.\n\n\n\nAre you looking for an outlet to meet new people?\nHave you fallen into the habit of staying home because your friends are too busy\, focused on other things?\nAre you wondering how to make friends as an adult – outside of the workplace?\n\n \nIf so\, come along with us on our monthly Ladies hikes! Connect with ladies at the same stage of life as you AND start building a community of local friends. \nThese hikes are meant for meeting new people and helping you find friends to hang out with on a regular basis. \nWe always have a great time looking at the views\, taking photos\, chatting\, and laughing together. Every hike brings a mix of new people\, which makes it a really welcoming group to be in. \nThis group social hike is for women between the ages of 20 and 90\, but please no children or dogs. \n\n\nAbout this month’s hike: \nWe’ll hike from the West Brush Creek Trail\, at the Meadows Day Use Area in Sylvan Lake State Park. NOTE: Some of us may carpool. Please register for more details. \nPlease arrive to the trail by 9:40 am – hike starts promptly at 9:45 am. If you are carpooling\, you will need to arrive earlier to meet us. Plan for 2 hours on the trail total. More details to follow in the confirmation email. \n\n\nIt can be a bit scary to put yourself out there in a new group of people. \nYou might be thinking the following: \nWhat if there’s nothing to talk about? We stop often to do ice breaker topics along the hike to give us good conversation starters! We switch up talking buddies along the way\, too\, so you have a chance to chat with many different ladies. \nWhat if I’m a slow hiker? We take our time on these hikes to stop often to chat as a group\, and we never leave anyone behind. Each person varies at their level of hiking experience (from beginner to expert) and we always go at a pace that works for everyone. \n\n\nIt’s so much more fun to do activities when you have friends who want to do them with you. \nWhy not start building your circle of friends now who want to experience new things? \nHere’s what some of the hikers are saying: \n“What a great group of women to spend my morning with! So appreciative to Emma for organizing this group hike and to all the fantastic women who I met today. This is just the beginning!” – R \n“Thank you\, Emma for organizing this hike. I really enjoyed meeting some lovely likeminded ladies while getting outside on this gorgeous morning. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better.” – L \n\n\nWant to join us? Please register so I know to expect you. Registration capped at 10 ladies to keep the group manageable. \nIf you can’t attend this one but want an invite to the next\, please subscribe to this event page\, or subscribe to my newsletter here! I’ll do these monthly on different trails in the Vail Valley area.
