DESCRIPTION:Start you own home business with the Cottage Foods Food Safety Certification!\n\n\nThis training provides a 3-year certification and meets the food safety training requirement for the Colorado Cottage Foods Act established and supported by the Colorado State Dept. of Health & Environment. \nParticipants learn food safety guidelines and the specifics for operating a small home-based cottage food business from a home kitchen. Learn about the most current Colorado Cottage Food Act.  \nThe main sections of the training cover food safety guidelines for preparing foods in a home kitchen which is different from a food service site that would be inspected by the County and/or State Health Depts.  We cover the basics of proper hygiene; preventing cross-contamination and cross-contact of food allergens; temperature control for safe food preparation\, storage\, transporting produce and sales. The allowable food products are highlighted with CSU Extension fact sheets provided for each food product allowed.  Then instructors go into product ingredient labeling\, packaging requirements\, marketing\, preparation at altitude and for going further with your business. \nAll of the participants that pass the test receive a CSU Extension Cottage Food Safety certificate to post for customers to see.    \nPre-registration required. DESCRIPTION:This course is geared towards judge’s with some experience that wish to test to become a certified Colorado State 4-H Horse Judge.\n\n\nNew or perspective judges with less experience are welcome to attend to further their education but a more in-depth program may be needed to become proficient enough to judge shows. This will be a virtual event that occurs on BOTH nights. November 14th and 16th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. For full certification (with test) the cost is $50 which includes a hard copy of the Colorado State 4-H Horse Rule Book (you will be sent a digital copy of the new rule book and a hard copy will be mailed to you once it is finalized) and Judging Manual (sent digitally). To audit the course (without certification) the cost is $30 which will also include the Colorado State 4-H Horse Rule Book and Judging Manual. Rule Book and Manual will be shipped to the participant’s home address. \nIt is HIGHLY recommended that you have access to a computer or laptop for this certification. SUMMARY:Watercolor Holiday Painting/Card Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Sweetwater and Lisa to paint a sweet bird in a winter scene that can be turned into cards to celebrate the season.\n\n\nJoin Sweetwater to paint a fun winter scene. Chickadees are a Colorado native bird and can be seen flitting about and enjoying the cooler weather during holiday months. This workshop will be featuring different watercolor techniques and some mixed media. The design is a 5×7” format that can be framed\, or can be used to print cards locally or online. We will practice various techniques before starting the card. The image can be traced or drawn freehand and of course\, painters are free to add their own elements and ideas.  \nBeginners welcome! This months basket is called “The Garden Swing” for it’s solid wood swing handle that is 10×15″. The basket measures 7″x13x10 wide. Basket color is natural reed. Sandi will provide tips for staining it if you would like to dye the basket a different color. The basket is made of flat reed and is a sturdy basket that has multiple uses.  \nA complete basket can be made in a few hours (not sitting in a closet waiting to be finished!) and it will be something to be used and not just sit on a shelf collecting dust. DESCRIPTION:Create your very own 6 foot organic balloon garland for Halloween! Instructor will provide all materials.\n\n\nInstructor Bio: After earning a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Washington\, Shannon started out her professional career in property management with a real estate development company and worked as a victim/witness advocate for the prosecutor’s office. That career path was cut short when she met her husband\, who is a Marine\, and they received orders to California.  While in California\, Shannon earned her nail technician license\, personal trainer certification and health coaching certification.\n \n \nIn 2016\, Shannon and her family moved to Colorado Springs where she began working as a real estate agent.  After working in Real Estate for 2 years\, she really missed using her creative side so she tossed around the idea of starting a staging company. In the midst of all of her research on what it would take to run a staging business\, she stumbled upon an instagram post of the most gorgeous balloon display she had ever seen.  A couple of days later\, still thinking about balloons\, she was sitting on her couch and had this overwhelming feeling to go and grab her stash of balloons and just see what she could do. “It was like I had no control over my own hands and I just started creating.”  Shannon began offering to do balloons for friends and local businesses that she frequented.  She was officially on a roll and then the world shut down due to Covid. Unsure of how she was going to continue doing what she had grown to love\, she had to start pivoting! “I started offering contact free “You’ve Been Ballooned” displays that I could install outside of people’s homes. The local news station Fox 21 did a story about Hello Sunshine Creatives and we quickly “blew up.”  “With balloons\, I am able to use my creativity to create gorgeous displays that bring so much joy to our clients and to us. There is nothing better than seeing the smiles on our clients’ faces when we pull up in our balloon van “Sunny” and start carrying out all of their balloons. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November\, wouldn’t it?”   \nCome celebrate the beauty and mystery of fall by designing and building a live succulent terrarium in a white Cinderella pumpkin. Florists will guide you through the process of selecting a variety of moss and succulents to build on top of your pumpkin. They will provide instruction on how to keep your plants alive\, and how to plant and repurpose your pumpkin once the fall season comes to a close. We’ll construct an accordian fold watercolor journal\, then paint the view of Pikes Peak after we learn watercolor techniques using fall themes to practice. You’ll be able to use your new skills in your journal or on a separate piece of paper. You’ll leave with at least one painting in your journal or on a separate sheet\, (you choose) as well as a practice sheet\, and the ability to fill your journal with watercolor sketches. \nAll artist quality supplies for the session are included.  \nBeginners welcome!
