SUMMARY:Open Mic for the Literary Arts
DESCRIPTION:This open mic welcomes any writer of any level and also welcomes any of the performative arts! We would love it if you came and read / performed your work with us — each month of the open mic is on a certain theme\, a theme we vote on each month. Each participant is allowed up to seven minutes\, but you do not have to take up the full seven minutes of course. All are welcome to attend as well\, you do not need to read in order to come\, we love our crowd participants just as much 🙂 We do our open mic each month\, typically on the third Friday of the month.  \nIf you want to perform you will sign up at the start of the event! Once you walk into the main gallery of Cottonwood you will see a sign up table.  \nMarch theme: What’s really at the end of the rainbow? \nIf you have any questions please reach out to our host: Jacqueline Moulton (jmoulton@idsva.edu)

SUMMARY:Extension Colorado Cottage Foods Statewide Training: In-Person

SUMMARY:ENTROPY
DESCRIPTION:ENTROPY: lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder. \nThe old tree may tumble in a storm. It may knock out the power. The junk drawer isn’t likely to remain orderly. The lawn that needs mowed and edged\, or it will consume the sidewalk and go to seed. \nYour hair will get tangled. It will get dirty. \nThe windows you clean will be water spotted after the next rain\, the dust will settle on the shelf you wiped. When the days get short and cold the leaves will fall\, they will not fall carefully. \nThe manicured garden will grow wild if not minded. The parking lot of the empty strip mall will crack and grow its own garden\, without care for arrangement. \nFor this open call for entries we asked artists to consider entropy\, and the concept of disorder as the eventual natural state of the world. It is in the nature of humanity to want to create sequence\, structure\, patterns\, and lines. We are asked artists to share an interpretation of the delight that can be found in the opposite – the jumble and disarray that is the eventual evolution of all order. \nPhoto credit: Christine Lawson – Plants From the Garden
