SUMMARY:Woodland Park Wind Symphony at the Ent
DESCRIPTION:This is the 3rd year for the Woodland Park Wind Symphony’s concert in the Shockley-Zalabak performance theater.  Under the direction of Craig Harms\, this 65-piece Wind Symphony is made up of musicians from the Ute Pass and Pikes Peak areas. \nThe generosity of sponsors and a grant from the Ute Pass Saddle Club have made possible these ticket prices:  General Admission – $10 (plus $2.75 service fee) per person; and FREE STUDENT tickets.   The Wind Symphony and its sponsors’ goal is to provide this musical experience to a wide audience who can experience the sounds of music in the beautiful Shockley-Zalabak Theater. \nPre-concert music will be provided by the HighAltitooters\, Flute choir. \nFeatured clarinet soloist is Karen Hoexter\, performing the First Movement of the Clarinet Concerto by Philip Sparke.  Other selections include Heroic Fanfare by Julie Giroux\, Selections from Chicago and American Fanfare by Joseph Willcox Jenkins. \nMembers of the Woodland Park Wind Symphony include high school students from the area who are enjoying performing with this group and stretching their musical abilities and especially being able to perform in the Shockley-Zalabak theater.

A feeling of being lost\, stuck\, lonely\, failing\, guilt\, afraid\, angry\, or bored? \nPerhaps you feel so beat down by it all\, that you just don’t know what to do to move forward. You might not have the energy or don’t even know how to learn the skills to get past it. \nWhat if I told you that you DO have the skills and the tools to move forward? You have everything you need right there inside of you. You just need something to help you uncover them. \nIf you are ready to move past these obstacles and get back on your path\, it’s time to try Emotional Art Journaling! \nHow it works: \nEmotional Art Journaling helps you to get out of your head and into your body. Your body is where your emotions really live. Sometimes we stress out so much\, looking for the next productivity or motivational tool to move us forward\, when really all we need is to look inside ourselves. We know the way out of it\, but we have to first figure out what’s causing the block. By working through each layer of feeling\, visualizing it on paper\, you start to recognize the real obstacle. Nevada Ave. in Colorado Springs. \nThe concert will feature Celtic music and performances including Scottish dancers\, bagpipers\, vocalists\, and instrumentalists. \nThis year’s concert honors Jay Cimino\, former CEO of Phil Long Enterprise who passed away in February 2024. \nThe Denver Brass is a 14-person ensemble founded in 1981 by Kathy and Chuck Brantigan. It is now a nationally recognized group that performs original compositions and arrangements. Each year\, the Denver Brass reaches more than 50\,000 people through more than 140 concerts. \nThe Colorado Springs concert is $45 a ticket\, $35 for military members and veterans. This is the second year of the concert put on by One Simple Voice\, the spiritual arm of Mt. Carmel Veterans Services Center.

Connect with ladies at the same stage of life as you AND start building a community of local friends. \nThese hikes are meant for meeting new people and helping you find friends to hang out with on a regular basis. \nWe always have a great time looking at the views\, taking photos\, chatting\, and laughing together. Every hike brings a mix of new people\, which makes it a really welcoming group to be in. \nThis group social hike is for women between the ages of 40’s and 50’s. \n\n\nAbout this month’s hike: \nWe’ll hike from the Sweetwater Ute Trail. We take our time on these hikes to stop often to chat as a group\, and we never leave anyone behind. There is no machine to make a basket.\n\n\nJoin Sandi Moede and Sweetwater Flower Market in crafting a hand woven basket from start to finish. This months basket is called “Herb Basket”. A solid wood handle. The basket measures 16″x8x3. Basket color is natural reed. Sandi will provide tips for staining it if you would like to dye the basket a different color. The basket is made of flat reed and is a sturdy basket that has multiple uses. \nA complete basket can be made in a few hours (not sitting in a closet waiting to be finished!) and it will be something to be used and not just sit on a shelf collecting dust. And the joy and sense of accomplishment that YOU made this will make you smile! \nTickets are limited\, so be sure to reserve yours today! \nWorkshop includes: \n\nA seat in our lovely studio\n\n\nAn apron to wear during the workshop to protect your clothes from damp reeds\n\n\nPersonalized instruction\n\n\nTools\n\n\nBasket supplies\n\n\nA gorgeous 16x8x3 herb basket to take home!\n\nTicket cost: $85/person + sales tax and EventBrite fee \n*Note: No prior experience in basket weaving is necessary\, however the basket does require focus and ability to weave with two hands. DESCRIPTION:Start you own home business with the Cottage Foods Food Safety Certificate!\n\n\nThis training provides a 3-year certificate and meets the food safety training requirement for the Colorado Cottage Foods Act established and supported by the Colorado State Dept. of Health & Environment. \nParticipants learn food safety guidelines and the specifics for operating a small home-based cottage food business from a home kitchen. Learn about the most current Colorado Cottage Food Act. \nThe main sections of the training cover food safety guidelines for preparing foods in a home kitchen which is different from a food service site that would be inspected by the County and/or State Health Depts. We cover the basics of proper hygiene; preventing cross-contamination and cross-contact of food allergens; temperature control for safe food preparation\, storage\, transporting produce and sales. The allowable food products are highlighted with CSU Extension fact sheets provided for each food product allowed. Then instructors go into product ingredient labeling\, packaging requirements\, marketing\, preparation at altitude and for going further with your business. \nAll of the participants that pass the test receive a CSU Extension Cottage Food Safety certificate to post for customers to see. \nPre-registration required. This group social hike is for women between the ages of 40’s and 50’s.\n\n\n\nAre you looking for an outlet to meet new people?\nHave you fallen into the habit of staying home because your friends are too busy\, focused on other things?\nAre you wondering how to make friends as an adult – outside of the workplace?\n\n \nIf so\, come along with us on our monthly Ladies hikes! Connect with ladies at the same stage of life as you AND start building a community of local friends. \nThese hikes are meant for meeting new people and helping you find friends to hang out with on a regular basis. \nWe always have a great time looking at the views\, taking photos\, chatting\, and laughing together. Every hike brings a mix of new people\, which makes it a really welcoming group to be in. \nThis group social hike is for women between the ages of 40’s and 50’s. \n\n\nAbout this month’s hike: \nWe’ll hike from the Grizzly Creek Trailhead. Let’s meet in the rest area parking lot before we head up. ***NOTE: Click on the link to find the actual location of the trail. It is off I-70\, a few minutes BEFORE Glenwood Springs. Google Maps has the accurate location.***  \nPlease arrive by 9:40 am – hike starts promptly at 9:45 am. Plan for 2 hours on the trail total. More details to follow in the confirmation email. \n\n\nIt can be a bit scary to put yourself out there in a new group of people. \nYou might be thinking the following: \nWhat if there’s nothing to talk about? We stop often to do ice breaker topics along the hike to give us good conversation starters! We switch up talking buddies along the way\, too\, so you have a chance to chat with many different ladies. \nWhat if I’m a slow hiker? We take our time on these hikes to stop often to chat as a group\, and we never leave anyone behind. Each person varies at their level of hiking experience (from beginner to expert) and we always go at a pace that works for everyone. \n\n\nIt’s so much more fun to do activities when you have friends who want to do them with you.  \nWhy not start building your circle of friends now who want to experience new things? \nHere’s what some of the hikers are saying: \n“What a great group of women to spend my morning with!
