SUMMARY:Open Mic for the Literary Arts
DESCRIPTION:This open mic welcomes any writer of any level and also welcomes any of the performative arts! We would love it if you came and read / performed your work with us — each month of the open mic is on a certain theme\, a theme we vote on each month. Once you walk into the main gallery of Cottonwood you will see a sign up table.  \nMarch theme: What’s really at the end of the rainbow? \nIf you have any questions please reach out to our host: Jacqueline Moulton (jmoulton@idsva.edu)

SUMMARY:Coming China Wars - of Geography and Near Space
DESCRIPTION:China’s government and population face an existential crisis. Some are of their own making\, such as population collapse. Some are geographical\, such as lack of resources and ocean access. Great nations in such a crisis will fight rather than fade quietly. They may attack Taiwan\, and they may attack Russia. This lesson covers the why and how this crisis is likely to play out with emphasis on the Near Space technology demonstrated by the Chinese airship overflight of the US in 2023. That asymmetric military advantage makes China more likely to win than most pundits understand. \nEd Herlik: MS in Political Science. Ed has taught in the Air Force Academy’s Political Science department. \nMembers-FREE\, Not-Yet-Member-$25.00 \n*Dates\, times\, location are subject to change\, please check registration link for up-to-date details. \nAbout PILLAR \nPILLAR Institute for Lifelong Learning is a dynamic hub for curious minds seeking intellectual growth and meaningful community connections.
