SUMMARY:Cultivating Colorado: Growing Native Plants in Your Home Landscape
DESCRIPTION:This half-day workshop will cover landscape design\, growing native plants\, non-native turf removal\, and native grass options.\n\n\nBy gardening and landscaping with native plants you can create habitat and forage for wildlife\, provide pollen and nectar resources for pollinators\, save time on maintenance\, conserve water\, and save money on utilities and inputs. During this half-day workshop\, you will learn the basics of designing with native plants\, how to grow native plants from seed\, how to remove existing non-native turf\, and options for native grass installation.  \nThis workshop is IN PERSON at the Colorado Springs Utilities Conservation and Environmental Center. Space is limited. Arrive 30 minutes early at 8am for an optional tour of the demonstration gardens before the workshop begins. The gardens will be open for self-guided tours after the workshop. Meals are not provided but there will be some light snacks.  \nThe facilitators of this workshop include Catherine Moravec (Water Conservation Lead\, Colorado Springs Utilities)\, Scott Winter (Project Manager\, Colorado Springs Utilities)\, Allisa Zurbuchen (Horticulture Specialist\, Colorado State University Extension)\, and Jan Berry (Colorado Master Gardener).
