Let’s Take the Panama Canal – by Fighting the Mosquitoes – Live Performance

June 3 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

In 1904, the United States began to dig the Panama Canal. The French had tried, but the tremendous rains and endless mudslides, yellow fever, and malaria defeated them. Using the latest medical approaches learned from the Spanish-American War of 1898, the top physicians, led by Dr. William Crawford Gorgas, aggressively rid the Panama Canal of yellow fever and reduced the chances of malaria.

Norm Renaud: MS in Administration with a major in Elementary Education from UCCS.
