In-Person: Denver Rescue Mission
A message to volunteers regarding COVID-19 from Brad Meuli, President/CEO of Denver Rescue Mission:
I wanted to keep you informed on how things are going so that you are prepared when you join us during your upcoming volunteer shift. Here's what you need to know: Our services and facilities are considered essential in the community, and our staff are essential workers. We still need volunteers and they are still allowed to come and serve, as long as they are healthy and under 65 years old. Please only come to volunteer if you are comfortable doing so. If not, you may still support us with donations and prayer. We are unable to provide masks for volunteers so please bring your own face covering. We are unable to enforce strict social distancing in our facilities due to the nature of our work.Disease prevention measures are in place such as sanitizing surfaces hourly, additional hand washing stations and commercial food safety. Many of our facilities are implementing temperature checks for anyone onsite, so please expect this as a part of check-in and cooperate with any instructions.
We take the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and guests seriously, and we rely on your help to keep our services running during this time. Please don't hesitate to reach out should you have any questions. Thank you so much!
A few instructions and reminders about volunteering:
Dress Code: Please dress in a manner that is modest and appropriate for working. Please refrain from wearing opened toe shoes, tank-tops, midriff tops, short shorts, and any clothing that is: tight, low-cut, or has controversial imprints. If you are dressed inappropriately, you may be asked to reschedule. A tip for kitchen volunteers: If you wear a hat (and a pony tail for long hair), you will not be required to wear a hairnet.
Incidents: Please report immediately to a staff member any injuries, inappropriate behavior, or anything that makes you uncomfortable. Please be aware that many of our guests and program participants are experiencing difficult life situations.
Check-in: Please enter the building through the main entrance. Upon entry, please be sure to sign in at the kiosk tablet. If you are with a group, only one member needs to sign-in for the group. This is essential for us to highlight volunteer contribution and impact. After signing in, our staff will get you oriented to the shift.
