Ryan Adams, First Aid Kit

Friday, June 15, 2018, 3:00 AM

Singer/songwriter and former Whiskeytown frontman Ryan Adams released his solo debut album, "Heartbreaker," in 2000, and has gone on to release about 15 (depending on how you count) since, spanning several styles -- including 2017's "Prisoner," preceded by his earnest cover of Taylor Swift's album "1989" in 2015, as well as the EP "Blue Light." (That year, he also released a "Ten Songs from Live at Carnegie Hall" set.) He also created an eerily, totally accidental anthem; the song "New York, New York," from the album "Gold" -- with a video shot Sept. 7, 2001, mainly under the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge, with the Twin Towers behind him -- was released four days later. It's a song, and video, that New Yorkers embraced in the days and weeks following 9/11. His songs pick up influences from country, pop and rock, and his music has a brooding and earthy quality to it.
