Museo de las Americas will be hosting its 3rd Annual Lucha Libre Bash! Join us in celebrating the wonderful subculture of Lucha with a show from Hugo's Lucha Libre! Lucha Libre is a form of Mexican wrestling known for its colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds, as well as "high-flying" maneuvers. The wearing of masks has developed special significance, and the matches are sometimes contested in which the loser must permanently remove his mask. Museo’s Lucha Libre event will be held onsite in Museo’s outdoor space on July 20th, 2018 from 6 - 9 pm. The event will feature a professional wrestling ring and 8-10 local and international luchadores from Hugo’s Lucha Libre Company. The performance will be highly interactive and will engage audiences of all ages in an hour long show filled with drama and humor. The event will be accompanied by a small exhibition of photographs and luchador masks that will highlight the cultural significance of the sport as well as the elements of fashion and performance art involved in the development of a Lucha Libre.
